Description

Apple-Cranberry Oats is a warm and hearty breakfast dish that combines the natural sweetness of apples with the tartness of cranberries, all enveloped in the wholesome goodness of oats. This comforting meal is perfect for starting your day on a nutritious note.

Ingredients

– 2 cups water

– 1 apple, cored and diced

– 1/2 cup fresh cranberries

– 1 cup quick-cooking oats

– 1/4 cup brown sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– Pinch of salt

– 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, diced apple, and fresh cranberries. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook until the cranberries burst and the apples become tender, approximately 5 minutes.

2. Stir in the quick-cooking oats, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens and the oats are fully cooked, about 2-3 minutes.

3. Remove from heat and let it sit for a minute to cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle chopped walnuts on top before serving.

Notes

For a creamier texture, consider using half water and half milk. You can also add a touch of maple syrup or honey for additional sweetness if preferred. This recipe is easily customizable; feel free to add other fruits like pears or berries, or incorporate seeds such as chia or flax for added nutrition.
